What is Project success and who we serve?

Project Success is a HUD grant-supported transitional housing program managed by Longview Wellness Center, Inc. The project serves women who are heads of a household that have come from family violence shelters, inpatient and residential substance abuse treatment programs, area homeless shelters and from the streets, and chronically homeless women.

These women lack monetary resources to secure housing and other resources to assist them in securing gainful employment. Our ultimate goal is to help them become self-sufficient and employable in order for them to have their own permanent housing.

What does the program offer?

  • Furnished housing with partial electric bill paid.
  • Extensive Case Management - includes helping participants access all community resources to help them become self-sufficient.
  • Job Prep Training - Life Skills, Leadership Skills and Computer Skills training. Life Skills training emphasizes stress management, coping skills for anger and anxiety, time management, effective communication, problem solving, etc. In computer classes, participants are taught basic Windows operating system, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Mental and Physical healthcare - The Center provides some services, but collaborates with area healthcare agencies such as Gregg County Health Dept, Community Healthcare (previously Sabine Valley Center ) and Acadia Healthcore to provide the best physical and mental healthcare for our participants.
  • Savings Programs to prepare for participants future permanent home and independence. When our participants start earning income, we encourage them to put 50% of their earnings in a savings at a bank of their choice.
  • Volunteer Time - Participants are given hands-on training in office skills be being a volunteer for the center. They learn to create a professional letter, the use of office equipment and phone etiquette while building up their self-esteem and confidence.
